Ohlone College is locations in the Mission San Jose District of Fremont, just off I-680.

Campus Map & Parking

Ohlone College has a good campus map on their website. NEW : Annotated maps: Campus, Building 8 1st floor, 2nd floor
Best entrance to the campus is via the Southern entrance to the campus.
Best parking is in the lot labeled “M” near the Pool on the map. The competition will be taking place in the gymnasium, in building “9”.

What to Bring (or NOT)

  • Your robot (duh) – only one … no backup robots
  • Transmitter
  • Fully charged batteries and charger
  • A tether cable for each transmitter your robot uses
  • Your Engineering Notebook (make sure it has team name & number on it)
  • Spare parts
  • Tools
  • SAFETY GLASSES
  • A laptop computer for programming
  • NO Crystals – it will be tether only in the pits. Leave the crystals at home
  • Signed liability waivers for each team member, mentor, or coach
  • A powerstrip and/or extension cord for use in the pits
  • food or money for lunch

What to Expect

The early morning will be spent:

  • checking in – in the breezeway of the Gymnasium (Bldg 9)
  • inspecting robots – in the pits
  • practice rounds

There will be a practice field in the pits. This will be a shared field. Make sure everyone has equal opportunity to practice!

In the pits, each team will have a 6 foot table with 4 chairs for their use during the tournament.

We will have a brief opening ceremony mid-morning, followed immediately by the beginning of the qualification rounds.

The qualifying rounds will finish in the early afternoon, after a short lunch break.

Once qualifying is complete, we will hold alliance selection. This will be followed by a short break, and then the elimination rounds.

It would be good to plan for alliance selection. If you are not familiar with the alliance selection process, make sure to read Section 3.5.1 of the FIRST Vex Challenge Game Manual

The end of the elimination rounds will be followed by the presentation of awards and medals, and the closing ceremony.

FOOD

Food and drink are not allowed in the gymnasium.
